Edge Sports Center Skating Program 2017 – 2018 Season

While we were on break a lot of exciting skating news from the Olympic in PyeongChang, South Korea! Congratulations to the great athletes of Ice Sports!

  • USA Women Hockey Team won the Gold Medal
  • The USA Figure Skating Team won the Bronze Medal
  • US ice dancers Maia and Alex Shibutani won the Bronze Medal
  • Marai Nagasu, in the team competition,  landed her Triple Axel!
  • Nathan Chen, The Quad King, executed 5 out of 6 quadruple jumps!
  • Yusuru Hanyu won his 2nd Olympic men’s title.
  • Olympic Athletes Evgenia Medvedeva 2nd Silver & Alina Zagitova 1st Gold  scored a tie with 156.65 points in the freeskate final. Awesome!

And in Portland, Oregon at the 2018 US National Synchronized Skating Championship the Haydenettes from Lexington won their 26th National Championship. Incredible! We are sure to see even more in the future! The Paralympics start March 9 to 18th!

We are in an exciting time for all ice sports especially Learn to Skate USA! Welcome back to the Edge Sports Center where it all starts. Registration for session 3 is open online. Every skater must register yearly with USFS headquarters. In order to do this:
A. Go to USFSA at www.USFSA.org.
B. Then click on Learn to Skate USA.
C. Then sign-up and pay with a debit/credit card.

Specialty Classes

Get the feeling you get when you achieve something through practice and perseverance.

There is joy in personal satisfaction when you get that special feeling You Did It! that no one can give you.

Our Specialty Classes are a way for skaters to take a small step up and gain confidence and we also offer a Summer Skating Camp. World class basic skills build a strong foundation for skaters to reach for the stars and achieve their maximum potential. Boys and girls who want to be top hockey players need to learn their edges and turns from figure skating specialists. Skaters who want to jump and spin need private one on one booster lessons to improve safely.  Years down the road skaters reach for their personal record by training smarter and harder. We offer the ideal situation and safe place to start on that journey. New for Session 4 are 5 choices for your consideration. Please sign up by May 19.

Session 4 starts June 4 – July 9, 2018     Monday from 5:30pm to 7 PM for 6 weeks

418A/ 5:30 to 6 PM Booster Lessons – $60 ice (30 min) + $90 instruction (15 min) = $150

418B/ 5:30 to 6 PM Specialty Class- Intro to Figures $120 (limited to 12 skaters)

418C/ 6:00 to 6:45 PM Learn to Skate USA Classes for $150

418D/ 6:45 to 7:00 PM Booster Lessons for LTS USA skaters $90 instruction (15 min)

418E/ 6:30 to 7:00 PM Edge Advantage Class for Hockey Players- $120 Edges & Turns Skills


We will also have a Summer Figure Skating Camp:

August 6-10 8:50 AM to 4 PM  $600.


Sign-up by May 19 and get a $50 Early Bird discount. Second skater $25, Third skater $50 additional family credits which can be used for any program, ice session, or store item at the Edge..  Summer Figure Skating Camp gives the kids a taste of School Figures, Moves in the Field, Edge & Power, Synchro, interpretive skating, Full dress up end of the week Exhibition.

The new Edge Learn to Skate USA  program is directed by Michael Masionis and Andrea Iannalfo

Michael Masionis is a member of the US Figure Skating Learn To Skate USA committee.
“Coach Mike” has created, directed and operated skating schools since 1975 at Greater Boston and New England skating rinks. He is a full time professional figure skating coach and Edge and Power Skating instructor. Producer and Director of Skating Exhibitions and Competitions, skating camps and televised productions, Mike makes the most of each opportunity to showcase fun and share the joy of skating. The Edge Sports Center is the place to learn world class basics that will enhance your fitness and a lifetime of participation in ice sports including Figure Skating, Synchronized Team, Moves In the Field, Ice Dancing, Theatre on Ice, Power and Edge, Speed Skating and Hockey.
